Lobster Seafood is fishing for the future, taking coming generations into account
- We care about the oceans, fish, shellfish and the consumer.
Lobster Seafood Sweden AB imports seafood products from many oceans and countries around the world. Responsibility and responsiveness are keywords in our daily work with fish and shellfish in their habitat - oceans and lakes.
We take responsibility as regards consumer - who likes to eat tasty, nutritious products, but obviously without worrying about the depletion or pollution the marine environment - and are sensitive to their wishes.
Our long-term work method and approach is made possible through informed and experienced management, and skilled and dedicated employees. We all have a great deal of respect for the marine environment
Fishing is much more then simply catching fish
- This is why we have developed our seven pillars.
- Ethics & environmental philosophy
We are sensitive to the global problems faced by marine populations and work to highlight alternatives to endangered species. Active responsibility for sustainable fisheries must, in our view, be taken in both conventional as certified fisheries. Sustainable fishing means that the size of each species is adequate and that the natural marine environment is protected, including both flora and fauna. Today 45% of our sales consist of farmed fish.
- Control & logistics
Our producers and suppliers are carefully assessed and evaluated, e.g. as regards their processing operations and environmental impact. Wherever they are located, we work hard to ensure efficiency in our logistics so that the distance from the produce to the end consumer is minimised in terms of time and space. Our office in Shanghai is the base for monitoring the production of crayfish, fish fillets, etc. on site.
- Legality & transparency
We only buy from suppliers with the same open, responsible and legal approach as we have. We make great efforts to comply with and meet the requirements of the various quality management systems for safe food handling at all stages. We ensure that limits are not exceeded and that additive labelling meets the standards set by the EU.
- Closeness & dialogue
We know the people we buy products from, whether these products are North Atlantic prawns, crayfish from Turkey or dark ghost shark from New Zealand. Close dialogue ensures that the products are produced according to specifications, and that legislation, professional standards, and managment and control systems are complied with. We encorage suppliers to continuously make improvments that benefit the marine ecosystem. We visit important suppliers and process plants arouond the world every year. Through our office in Shanghai, we build close relationships with our partners in Asia.
- Collaboration & commitment
In order to preserve the richness of marine wildlife, we work with the major player in marine farming, Marine Harvest. Public authorities and industry organisation are obvious partners in our dedicated work on ensuring healthy fish and seafood products. We give priority to industry-wide efforts to promote honesty where labelling, glazing and quality are concerned.
- Labeling & traceablity
We clearly state the product name, net weight and content in accordance with Swedish Food Administrations rules. Traceability is important, both when customers make their choices and to ensure legality. We work with the MSC ecolabel, which means that the seafood is caught using approved methods that do not contribute to overfishing. Impact on other fish species, the marine flora and the seabed is minimal. The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is a global non-profit organisation with the only globally recognised ecolabel for fish and shellfish. We have sophisticated business and monitoring systems that make it possible to trace our products/produce from the oceans to the place where they are served. We are authorised distributors of KRAV-labelled food products; KRAV is a Swedish organisation that inspects organic farming and prouction operations. The EU label for organic farming is used where our food is made up of at least 95% organic ingredients.
- Product- & range development
We develop our products and review our range to ensure we act responsibly and meet the demands of the market. We launch MSC-labelled products and were the first to introduce KRAV-labelled salmon at restaurants and on the catering and food service market.
